Marie Durkee: A Life of Service and Resilience in Plattsburgh, New York

Marie Durkee was born in Auburn, Alabama, and became a long-time resident of Plattsburgh, New York, where she spent more than four decades working in the household of William M. Foote. First appearing in local records in 1908, she played a role in identifying stolen property connected to a burglary case, reflecting her presence and trust within the community. Over the years, Marie lived on Miller Street and remained a steady figure in Plattsburgh life. She passed away on June 8, 1954, at the age of 77. Remembered for her years of dedicated service, her funeral was held at the Foote residence, and she was laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.
